Hello Movies, My Old Friend: Episode 107 - Modern Problems

On this month's episode of HELLO MOVIES, MY OLD FRIEND, Ray and Rob are revisiting a movie that they saw well before their time. A movie full of themes and visuals that were beyond the understanding of your average 10-year-old, the 1981 Chevy Chase (CADDYSHACK, MEMOIRS OF THE INVISIBLE MAN) dark comedy MODERN PROBLEMS. In this tale of woe, Chevy plays Max Fielder, an air traffic controller who can't seem to find the confidence in himself to stop pushing women away. When a freak accident with toxic waste gives him powers he can't quite control, he uses them to win back his recent girlfriend. With supporting performances by Patti D'Arbanville (REAL GENIUS, HOG WILD) and the late/great Dabney Coleman (9 TO 5, WARGAMES) this film seeks to examine the nature of masulinity and the ways we're viewed by others.
